Go Yellowjackets!

Ricardo Independent School District is a small rural district located less than 150 miles north of the Mexican border that was founded in the early 1900’s.  At the time of its founding, it served widely scattered farm children and children whose parents worked along the railroad.  As time passed, a larger town with a population of almost 30,000 developed to our north, and Ricardo continues to serve a largely rural community.   Over the last 100 years we have grown from a small unsophisticated district to a district serving a PK-8 student population of over 700.  We boast 3 stand alone computer labs and have several classrooms equipped with individual student netbooks.  We have an award winning athletic program, and support strong UIL and Destination Imagination teams.  Our students feed into several area high schools;  Riviera, H.M.King, Bishop, and Santa Gertrudis Academy.
