Welcome to Mrs. Hill's ELA Class
7th Grade Field Trip: May 17, 2012
Field Day: May 18, 2012
Dear Parents,
Thank you so much for all of the wonderful gifts sent during Teacher Appreciation Week; it was so very kind of you to think of me. This week we shall continue to work in our journals, create covers for them, and diagram sentences while reviewing parts of speech. We will read and analyze classic short stories that I shall show on the computer. We shall read a story by Edgar Allan Poe (The Masque of the Red Death) and one by Mark Twain (The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calavaras County). Students will test on each of these stories. Inevitably, I keep getting the following question from the students: "Mrs. Hill, what are we going to do after STAAR?" I shall continue to answer it as such: "Work!" :) They do appreciate, however, the fact that the state test is behind them.
By the way, if I haven't mentioned it lately, let me just say, your children are AWESOME! I have loved working with them.
Please make sure your child is reading at home every night for at least 20 minutes. It is such a vital factor in increasing comprehension skills, and I'm noticing that a few of the students have not been doing as well on their AR quizzes.
I appreciate your support this year, and if you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail me at hhill@ricardoisd.us. My conference time is from 11:15 to 12:00. Please feel free to contact me to schedule a conference if the need arises. Thank you!

It's almost time for Field Day! Mark your calendars for May 18, 2012. Why is that so important? The speech class does a presentation on that day, and they work towards organizing the acts, as well as showcasing their own individual talents. Come and enjoy!
Currently, we are in the process of writing our script for the talent show. It's sure to be lots of fun!
If you have any questions, my e-mail address is hhill@ricardoisd.us. Thank you for your support.
