Ricardo Independent School District is a small rural district located less than 150 miles north of the Mexican border that was founded in the early 1900’s. At the time of its founding, it served widely scattered farm children and children whose parents worked along the railroad. As time passed, a larger town with a population of almost 30,000 developed to our north, and Ricardo continues to serve a largely rural community. Over the last 100 years we have grown from a small unsophisticated district to a district serving a PK through 8th grade student population of 650 to 700. We are a 100% Google Apps For Education district incorporating mobile carts in our classrooms. Ricardo Elementary School (RES) serves PK through 4th grades. PK through 1st grades have access to a computer lab with 26 computers and a classroom set of 15 chromebooks. Each 2nd grade class has a set of 30 chromebooks. Each student in grades 3rd and 4th grades are assigned a chromebook with a carrying sleeve. Ricardo Middle School (RMS) serves 5th through 8th grade with each students having an assigned chromebook with a carrying sleeve. Each classroom teacher has a laptop, an interactive flat panel, and a document camera. Our teachers collaboratively educate our students using technology through Google apps, instructional websites, and computer software. We have an award winning athletic program, and support strong UIL and Destination Imagination teams. Our students feed into several area high schools; Riviera, H.M. King, Bishop, and Santa Gertrudis Academy.

ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES WILL BE CLOSED JULY 4TH THROUGH JULY 8TH. REGULAR OFFICE HOURS WILL RESUME ON JULY 11TH.
