Preparing Today For A Safer Tomorrow
The Texas School Safety Center (TxSSC) is an official university-level research center at Texas State University, and is tasked with key school safety initiatives and mandates outlined in Chapter 37 of the Texas Education Code and the Governor's Homeland Security Strategic Plan.
TxSSC disseminates safety and security information through research, training, and technical assistance for K-12 schools throughout the state of Texas.
Ricardo ISD utilizes the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) for emergency preparations.
The Texas State School Safety Center has provided an SRP Youtube Video that illustrates how to implement each of the SRP.
Ricardo ISD staff and substitute teachers are fully trained in the Standard Response Protocol.

Safe Gun Storage
In Summer 2023, the 88th Texas Legislature required that all school districts provide the parent or guardian of each student enrolled in the district with information regarding the Safe Storage of Firearms, including information on section 46.13 of the Texas Penal Code.
