    Charles Saverline, Position 7

    Mr. Saverline has served on the Board since 1999 and is currently serving as President. He is married to Peggy Saverline. They have had four children graduate from Ricardo ISD. Mr. Saverline is a Senior Reliability Specialist at OQ Chemicals and is very active in the Ricardo community. He has previously served on the Ricardo Volunteer Fire Department, on the Board of Directors for the Kleberg/Kenedy County Jr. Livestock Show Association, on the Board of Directors for the Ricardo Water Supply Corporation, and as a coach and referee for the Kingsville Youth Soccer Organization. He currently serves as an Assistant Superintendent in the Swine Division of the Kleberg/Kenedy County Junior Livestock Show Association. He feels serving on the Ricardo ISD Board is an extension of his desire to serve the community. His mother, Patty Saverline, served as a board member in the late 80’s and early 90’s.

    Robert Zavala has been serving on the Board since 1999, demonstrating his enduring commitment to the betterment of educational opportunities for young people. Mr. Zavala’s educational journey, from Ricardo Middle School to his graduation from HM King High School at the remarkable age of 16. His pursuit of higher education at Texas A&I University, and Texas A&M-Kingsville coupled with his professional career at Celanese, where he retired after 33.5 years as a Senior Specialist II, underscores his lifelong dedication to personal and professional development. Mr. Zavala's family values are evident in his marriage to Diana G. Zavala and in the achievements of their three children, all of whom completed Ricardo Middle School and have gone on to pursue higher education. Two of his children hold engineering degrees, and one is pursuing a doctoral program, which speaks volumes about the emphasis placed on education within the Zavala household. Mr. Zavala's great passion for community involvement speaks to his deep-rooted commitment to giving back. Through his service with organizations such as the United Way, American Cancer Society Relay for Life, and many others, he has made a tangible impact on the lives of others in his community. His belief in the importance of teamwork and providing resources to ensure the safety and success of the children in the school system reflects a genuine dedication to the well-being and future prospects of the community's youth.

    Carol Cannon is married to Lindell Cannon and has two grown children who are graduates of Ricardo ISD. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture Science from Texas A&M University Kingsville in 2000. She has served the Ricardo Community in various ways since 1983. She previously served on the Ricardo ISD School Board from 1997-2006 as well as serving on Ricardo PTO for eleven years. She began her teaching career at Memorial Middle School teaching 7th grade science for 7 years. She spent the last 12 years of her career teaching and coaching at Ricardo Middle School where she taught 6th and 7th grade science until her retirement in 2019. Mrs. Cannon also previously served as a Kleberg-Kenedy County 4-H leader for eleven years. She believes you have to invest in your community to help it grow and where better to start than with education. Teaching was a blessing for her and she knows first-hand that the teachers, staff and parents of Ricardo ISD want nothing but the best for our students because their success is everyone’s success. Mrs. Cannon looks forward to the opportunity to serve her community and work with an amazing team to continue to promote growth and excellence in Ricardo ISD.

    Rosanna Arevalo, Position 6

    Rosanna G. Arevalo was elected in the regular November 8, 2022 election to fill an unexpired term. She is married to Juan A. Arevalo who works for Triton Wireline in Alice, Texas. They have two daughters, Niki and Alexia Arevalo. Rosanna is a homemaker who has always been involved in her children’s education. She has previously been the treasurer for the Ricardo Pop Warner football team and the H. M. King High Cheerleader Booster Club. She and her husband are members of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church and she is currently involved in the St. Vincent de Paul organization with the church. She credits her interest in her children’s education to her mother who was always involved when she was in school. Also, she feels that Ricardo School is an excellent school with wonderful teachers, administrators and staff and is very grateful at the education her children have been receiving here and wanted to run for the board to try to give back to the district that has given so much to the community. All of the teachers and staff are always so helpful and concerned about all the children. That really impressed me and makes me feel at ease knowing that all the children are well taken care of. Children are our future and I feel we have to protect them and nurture them and giving them a good education is the best thing you can give any child.

    Angela Bull, Position 2

    Mrs. Angela Bull was appointed to the Board in July of 2021. She is a native of Ricardo and a graduate of Riviera Kaufer High School. Mrs. Bull has a degree in Agricultural Development from Texas A & M University, College Station. Angela is married to Bren Bull and has two children, Grant Garza and Grace Bull. She is co-owner and chief financial officer of Solution Integrated Chemicals. Mrs. Bull and her husband raise cattle and show cutting horses. She is very active in the county 4-H program and serves as the adult leader of the Wild Horse Desert Club, coaches youth horse judging teams, and is the horse show superintendent of the Kleberg-Kenedy County Jr Livestock Show. All this time spent with 4-H youth earned Angela the Texas 4-H Adult Volunteer of the year in 2022. Beyond serving as a school board trustee, Mrs. Bull is a member of the Women’s Club of Kingsville, Brush Country Aggie Moms, TAMUK Rodeo Advisory Board, and the National Cutting Horse Association Growth & Development Committee.

    Lance Hamm, Position 5

    Lance D. Hamm was appointed to the Board in November 2023. He is married to the
    former Kim Oldham, oldest daughter of longtime Ricardo residents, Gail and Mary Ann
    Oldham. Lance and Kim Hamm have lived in the Ricardo School District for almost 20
    years and together have three daughters, Sadie, Sabrina, and Sophia, all proud
    graduates of Ricardo ISD. Mr. Hamm received a Bachelor of Science Degree in
    Construction Management from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln in 1985 where he
    also was commissioned an Ensign in the United States Navy. He earned his Naval
    Aviator “Wings of Gold” while stationed at NAS Kingsville in 1993. He retired from
    military service in 2008 with the final rank of Commander after serving eleven years on
    active duty and eleven years in the Navy Reserve. Mr. Hamm is currently employed as a
    pilot with American Airlines. He is President of the Lone Star Region (Navy League of
    the United States) and in 2024 he was the President of the Kingsville Council of the
    Navy League. He has been a member of the American Legion for 35 years. Mr. Hamm is
    an enthusiastic traffic safety advocate and is an inaugural volunteer member of
    TxDOT’s External Partners Work Group for System Safety. Mr. Hamm is honored to be
    appointed to the Ricardo ISD Board of Trustees and looks forward to being a
    productive member of the highly successful Yellow Jacket team.

    Mario Mendietta, Position 3

    Mario A. Mendietta was elected member of the Ricardo ISD school board in November 2014. He is married to Georgina Mendietta, a graduate of Ricardo Middle School. They have two children, George and Sarah, products of Ricardo ISD and its educational successes. Mario and his family have been residents of Ricardo for 24 years. He has worked for 30+ years with various corporations managing the maintenance departments and employees of convenience stores with multi-figure budgets. Mr. Mendietta is currently working for Hart Restaurant Management as a maintenance provider and business consultant. He firmly believes that a child’s educational success begins with a strong foundation in the primary learning years and continues to build on that foundation as the child progresses through the educational school system. With the help of a strong, supportive, and most importantly actively involved school board, Ricardo ISD will continue to provide the strong foundation to produce quality education for the residents of Ricardo now and in the future.
