The Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) was established to allow districts to celebrate their top performing teachers with compensation and recognition through teacher designations listed below. Through approved local designation systems, districts can identify and designate outstanding teachers based on student growth and classroom observations. The Ricardo ISD local designation system was approved by the Texas Education Agency in July 2024.
TEACHER DESIGNATIONS
Designations are distinctions awarded to highly effective teachers. TIA established three levels of designations shown below which are awarded to teachers either through the district's local designation system or by achieving National Board Certification.
Districts with an approved local designation system may submit teachers for designation to TEA at any level. Teachers who pursue and achieve a National Board certification may be designated as Recognized by the Texas Education Agency (TEA).
