Important Dismissal & Traffic Reminders

As we continue working to make afternoon dismissal safer and more efficient for all Ricardo ISD families, please note these important updates:

Middle School Parent Arrival Times: Wagner St. is a two-way street and must remain open for traffic in both directions. We ask that middle school parents do not arrive before the designated middle school dismissal time. Arriving too early can interfere with elementary parent traffic and may cause vehicles to block the eastbound lane of Wagner St. Please help us keep traffic moving safely by arriving at the appropriate dismissal time.

Elementary Students Waiting for Middle School Siblings: Elementary students who are waiting to leave with a middle school sibling will now remain safely inside the school until middle school dismissal. This adjustment was made so our younger students do not have to wait outside for an extended period of time.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we continue refining our dismissal procedures. The safety of our students and families remains our top priority.

Yellowjacket Spotlight

Ricardo ISD celebrates its 2026 TEA Accountability Ratings with a 'B' for the district and elementary school, and 'A's for middle school and financial accountability.

Celebrating Ricardo ISD!

We are proud to celebrate the outstanding results of our students, staff, families, and entire Yellowjacket community!

For the 2026 TEA Accountability Ratings, Ricardo ISD earned a B (89), Ricardo Elementary earned a B (87), and Ricardo Middle School earned an A (91). Our district also earned an A (100) in Financial Accountability!

Adding to the celebration, Ricardo Middle School earned ALL 7 possible academic distinctions!

These results are a reflection of the hard work happening across Ricardo ISD. Thank you to our students, staff, and families for continuing to make us proud!

Building Excellence Through Professional Development

Our RISD staff spent our professional development days this past week learning, preparing, and working together to make the 2026–2027 school year a safe and successful one for our students. Staff participated in TEA tabletop safety exercises, along with Stop the Bleed, CRASE, Raptor safety training, and other important safety preparedness activities. These hands-on trainings help ensure our team is prepared to respond confidently and effectively when it matters most.

We were also excited to welcome Linda Villarreal, who shared several opportunities available through Texas A&M University–Kingsville (TAMUK) for employees interested in continuing their education and furthering their careers in education.

At RISD, professional development is about more than preparing for a new school year—it is about investing in our people so they can continue building excellence for our students and community.
