A Tradition of Excellence. A New Standard for Leadership.

Ricardo Middle School had much to celebrate at the August Ricardo ISD Board Meeting as the RMS staff was recognized for another outstanding year of academic achievement.

Ricardo Middle School earned an "A" accountability rating and an incredible 7 out of 7 possible academic distinctions. Even more impressive, RMS has maintained a continuous "A" rating since the current accountability rating system began in 2018–2019.

Earning all seven possible distinctions is an exceptional accomplishment and reflects the high level of teaching, learning, commitment, and teamwork taking place every day at Ricardo Middle School. This achievement places RMS among an outstanding group of high-performing middle schools across Texas.

The evening also included a special recognition for RMS Principal Jesse Gonzalez (Mr. G.). Superintendent Dr. Gina D. Garza and the Ricardo ISD Board of Trustees recognized Mr. Gonzalez as a recipient of the newly established Ricardo ISD Principal Leadership Incentive (PLI).

The Principal Leadership Incentive (PLI) is a locally developed Ricardo ISD initiative designed to recognize and reward exceptional campus leadership that contributes to sustained academic achievement, student growth, and overall campus excellence. Through this innovative initiative, Ricardo ISD is creating a new way to recognize the important role strong campus leadership plays in student and school success.

Learning in Action at RMS

Learning was happening all across campus this week! Mrs. De La Rosa’s 8th Grade Social Studies students compared regions and identified economic differences, while RMS students stepped into leadership roles during Scholar Academy by helping teach our elementary students. Great examples of learning, leadership, and Yellowjackets helping Yellowjackets!

Library Corner

Dear Ricardo ISD Parents and Guardians,

Ricardo ISD would like to share information about Follett’s Additional User Type (AUT), a library feature available to parents and guardians that provides access to their student’s library information.

Through Follett AUT, you can:
  • Browse our library catalog and search for books by title, author, or subject.
  • View books your student currently has checked out.
  • Review your student’s checkout history.
  • Set restrictions on specific titles for your student.

To access your student’s information, you will use the same email address listed as the primary contact during student registration. Follett will send an access code to that email address to complete the sign-in process.

Step-by-step instructions for accessing your account are available on our website.

If you have trouble signing in or your email address is not recognized, please complete the Parent/Guardian Support Form available on the website. A Ricardo ISD staff member will contact you to assist with your account.

We encourage parents and guardians to take advantage of this tool to stay informed and involved in their student’s reading and library activity.

Sincerely,

Ricardo ISD

Parental Rights and Options LINK
Ricardo ISD is committed to keeping our families informed and involved in their child’s education.

Texas law recognizes parents as important partners with educators, administrators, and school boards in the education of their children. The Parental Rights and Options Information provided by the Texas Education Agency outlines many of the rights and choices available to Texas parents, including rights related to instructional materials, academics, attendance, health-related services, special programs, school options, and more.

We have included the graphic above as a quick overview of some of this important information. Because the graphic is only a summary, we encourage all Ricardo ISD parents and guardians to review the complete Parental Rights and Options Information document linked with this post.

Thank you to our Ricardo ISD families for staying informed, involved, and engaged in your child’s education.
