Meet Me at the Pole

This week, RISD students voluntarily gathered around the flagpole for Meet Me at the Pole, a student-led time of prayer and fellowship. Students chose to participate and led the gathering on their own. We are proud to support our students as they exercise their right to gather and express their beliefs.

Our RMS 7th & 8th grade students participated in hands-on STOP THE BLEED training, learning important skills that could one day help save a life.

Learning in Action @ RMS

Our 7th Grade Yellowjackets were busy with hands-on learning yesterday! In Mrs. Kristian Villarreal’s Science class, students put on their goggles and headed into the lab to investigate physical and chemical changes in matter, aligned to TEKS 7.6C. Students worked together, observed reactions, and recorded their findings.

In Ms. Ariana Arevalo’s Advanced Math class, students took math off the paper and onto the classroom floor! Working with TEKS 7AM.10H (8.8D) and 7AM.7E (8.8C), students collaborated to explore the relationships between angles created by parallel lines and a transversal while connecting those relationships to solving equations.

In Mrs. Julissa Figueroa's Math class, students competed for the top spots for IXL math during from September 1 - September 18.

Top 3 Math IXL Rankings:

1. Julian Cruz answered 1614 math questions correctly

2. Kabir Patel answered 1266 math questions correctly

3. Enderson Mayorga answered 922 math question’s correctly

📚✨ Learning in Action at Ricardo Elementary! 💙💛

Our 4th Grade Yellowjackets were busy exploring the physical properties of matter in Science this morning! Through hands-on investigations and observations, students discovered how to describe and compare materials based on their physical properties.

Student Inventors were given an exciting challenge: Create a device that could throw trash from two feet away without the trash becoming airborne!

Our collaborative groups began by creating predesigns and detailed diagrams before getting the opportunity to test their inventions.

Our little Yellowjackets enjoyed a nature walk this morning with Fernando the Frog! After reading “I Wonder,” our students headed outdoors to explore, observe, and discover things that made them stop and wonder. We love seeing our little learners’ curiosity grow as they explore the world around them!

What a wonderful way to spend Family Fun Friday! Our 5th Grade Yellowjackets enjoyed having their parents join them at school to share lunch, spend quality time together, and make special memories.
